Default Mac G5 and fan noise

Has anyone else noticed the increase in fan activity in their G5 after the recent os update?

I know this is a widely known issue as seen on the apple discussion forums but today I've really been noticing it and now it's driving me nuts...

I have a G5 dp2.5. Interested to know what you have and if you are experiencing it. Might try a PMU reset....

mine seems noisier, but I put it down to application use. I'll monitor it, though. (dp 2.3)

Cheers.

Now you come to mention it - yes the fans spin up much more frequently.

Morning chaps, have a gander at macfixit. There's mention fo excessibe fan noise after the 10.4.3 update, and a few possible fixes to try out.

yeah, seen that. It is true that if you go to sys prefs/energy saver/options and choose either reduced or highest it does stop the fans.
