Just reset the password by remote using logon.scr tricks, or putting the hard drive in another machine that you do have admin privilidges ?

is this a work machine or home? You may end up in serious s**t if you break admin passwords (promote yourself to an admin) and install software on a work machine, just a thought

Indeed, getting admin' priv's could be closely followed by getting your P45

Breaking an admin password and installing P2P software in our company would involve the police being brought in.

You would be opening up a network to viruses/spyware as well as the fact that P2P network sren't exactly used for legal purposes most of the time.

Even if you get around the password I doubt the firewall would let any data through.

That's grounds for instant dismissal at our place IF it is on a work p.c.

There's a whole slew of things wrong with that scenario... changing Admin priviledges, installing illegal software, stealing bandwidth, potential trojan infection...

Most packet filters (firewalls) will stop p2p traffic anyway, but a half way decent network admin will have rules that explicitly block these ports just so that they can log the traffic when it appears. We do, and we've caught p.c.'s broadcasting on these ports.

Just thought you ought to know
