Question Firefox is becoming buggy...

Is it me or has anyone else noticed that FF seems to be not as stable as it once was? I started with 0.8 on the PC and it never crashed once, then I upgraded a couple of times and it gets the occassional hiccup when processing flash pages or just something gets its tit in a wringer and now tonight on the mac (1.0.1) it keeps crashing everytime I try and finalise a sale listing on ebay, in the end I had to drop back in to IE to finish it. Im a big fan of FF but have noticed it has got very slightly unstable.

I've had loads of problems with it since 1.0 (the betas beforehand were fine). I've had it crash from time to time (although it seems to be getting worse), but worst of all is that I've found several large intermittent rendering problems in the engine. Only seems to happen when you have a page with numerous hidden divs / iframes etc, and usually, if you refresh the page they go away. Not nice when trying to develop cross browser web applications though.

I've also found problems with some of the dhtml support (positioning divs when they are hidden for example). I've reported the problems, but they don't seem to be in any hurry to fix them. I'm finding Internet Explorer to be far more stable and reliable at the moment (and I didn't think I'd ever be typing that!!)...

p.s. This is on the PC.

Weird. I've seen the problems on all pcs I run it on, and our testers have found them as well (so probably runs into 30-40 pcs running firefox). They don't occur on the pre 1.0 betas, so I can only assume they've broken something which only becomes evident on certain hardware combinations. You must be lucky in that you've got a hardware combination that it likes...

Yes agreed Iain it is not as stable as it used to be, I dont think I ever had a single failure when running the beta. Its not a huge amount and its not like its critical if it does fail, just annoys me that the whole IT world just keeps adding features to software they 'think' users want that just adds complexity and bugs!

I used to get the PDF problem. It seemed to be fixed when I did a format HDD and fresh install of OS and FF (isntalled both before I installed anything else).

I was running 1.03 and upgraded to 1.06, big mistake, its very buggy.

Just hope it likes the new hardware of the new PC, cos despite all FF's problems, its still better than IE.

But with Macs now using intel, when will someone *******ize Tiger to work on PC's ?

1.06 version has Vulnerabilities

Which have been fixed in 1.07

Fix for a potential buffer overflow vulnerability when loading a hostname with all soft-hyphens
Fix to prevent URLs passed from external programs from being parsed by the shell (Linux only)
Fix to prevent a crash when loading a Proxy Auto-Config (PAC) script that uses an "eval" statement
Fix to restore InstallTrigger.getVersion() for Extension authors
