I had the same problem with USB.
I had an HP 880C plugged into my router and that worked fine with the software netgear provided, but when I upgraded the router to a netgear USB wireless router the printserver would not recognise the USB HP printer.
Never did manage to fix it, AFAIR the computer recognised there was a printer plugged into the router if I tried to add it in the non standard way but if I tried to use the netgear software to add a port it did not recognise that aUSB printer was attached.
If I plugged the printer into the Laptop directly it worked fine.
Saying that HP do say that you will lose most of the functionality of the printer if you plug it into a router Printserver.

Are you trying to connect to the printer via a Mac or a PC?
I have some HP printer back home which is USB and I'm sure I had it working when connected to the airport base station and using it from a mac. I *think* I might have been picking it up via Rendezvous/Bonjour, then again I might be wrong.
I am also fairly sure that I could not access it wirelessly from a pc laptop, hence my asking if you were trying to connect to it from a Mac or PC.
If I remember, I'll have a look when I get home and see if I can work out what does and does not work.

OK, did not have a chance to look last night, but will try over the weekend. I am sure I had a problem with the PC connecting to it. What you might want to do is have a look here, and select the "Get bonjour for windows" item (near the bottom right of the window).
It is quite possible the printer is Rendezvous/Bonjour (Bonjour being the new name for Rendezvous, which is Apple's zero-conf system) compatible and that you just need the PC to run Bonjour for it to see it.
It's worth a shot.
