Default Laptop Recommendations - Good for Gaming

Ok i need a laptop which does all the usual day to day tasks but also one that will be able to handle most of the current games like HL2, Brothers in Arms...WiFi would be good too.

Not even contemplating Alienware as they're just too expensive...my budget is up to £1000.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

I doubt you'll find a sub-£1000 that will play HL2 very well. I've had an Alienware laptop, and wouldn't buy another (too noisy, heavy etc). I'm currently using a Dell XPS Gen2, (with a 256mb Nvidia 6800 ultra gfx card etc), and HL2 / Doom3 etc run very well indeed Probably well out of your budget though. Stick with a desktop if you want gaming performance at that price....
