Pre-chipped PS2 - where from?
Mine has gone t!ts up tonight (the chip has died by the looks of it) so looks like I am going to need to get another, thing is I need to either buy it chipped or get one from a shop and then get it chipped.
Can the slim line versions be chipped and if so where can I get one from as I know its now illegal to sell mod chips for the PS2 in the UK
I need it chipped to play my US games such as GT4
What a **** evening Please someone give me some good news on getting a chipped PS2, please pm/email me if you can help but don't want to post an answer.
TIA

I take it it still works okay mate ??
Don't forget, there is always the swap-disk method to boot backups and imports. On a version 4, all you need is the Swap Magic disks and an R-Key (or slide tool), which is solderless.

Emailed you mate, had a mare when I got home Ah so not all is lost then? Could that pile of wires and chip be removed once and for all or would that do it even more damage and best leave it as is? I reckon it will work normally with just a new power/eject ribbon but leaves me stuck playing the imports etc.
Where can I purchase the bits you suggest above and how easy is the slide tool/r-key to fit?

The r-key is a piece of cake mate Takes about 5 mins to install, best to do at the same time as the new ribbon cable
In fact, sorry it didn't spring to mind earlier I have an R-Key for a V4 here, its yours if you want it ? You'd just need the Swap Magic disks.

Its a V4 and no it wont boot imports. The chip I don't know, thought it was a Messiah, about 2.5-3 years old now. Has got about 20 wires coming off it to various points on the board. It doesn't need any messing about with it, you just insert the games and off they go, no holding buttons down/disk swapping etc. It just stopped working out the blue. PAL games work fine so not a laser issue, definately the chip.

Well done mate, boasting on a public bulletin board about your adventures in petty crime. Why don't you grow some ***** and shoplift like a true crim.

Not rubbing it in, just not going to give out peoples private details mate and its not been done yet. If I hadn't got the offer to sort it then I would have gone down the Swap Magic route and R-Key.
