Cheapest Apple iBook?
Can anyone tell me what the cheapest apple ibook available is, my windows laptop is on it's last legs and I feel like a change.
Really only used for web browswing, email, word, powerpoint etc at the moment so processor speed not really a massive issue.
Thanks
David

David,
As per Apple Store UK, cheapest iBook is 699 inc VAT. + Free shipping
Spec is:
1.2GHz PowerPC G4
512K L2 cache (at 1.2GHz)
12-inch TFT Display
1024x768 resolution
256MB DDR266 SDRAM
30GB Ultra ATA drive
DVD/CD-RW drive
ATI Mobility Radeon 9200
32MB DDR video memory
AirPort Extreme built-in
I've got the 14" 1.33 iBook with combo drive, it's not a bad little machine. could do with a little more memory but it's really only used for browsing and acting as an OS X Server now and then, plus a development machine.

David,
Just to add to Markus's points, add on £49 for iWork '05 and you get a nice little document publishing/word processing app. called Pages and Keynote for presentations. Both can import/export their equivalent .doc and .ppt MS Office files. Of course you could get the full MS Office suite if you wanted.
Are you or any of your family in education as either a student or teacher? There's some nice discounts available if you qualify.
Cheers,
Alex
