Best 'fixit' software ?
Hi all,
Is there a decent software package out there for XP that goes through your PC (Registry, DLL's, EVERYTHING) and makes sure all is hunky dory ?
I'm at the point of reinstalling windows, but I'd rather not bother if there is a piece of software that will make sure everything is running as it should.
Any ideas ?
My PC is running SO SLOW on t'internet, and it's not the router as I've tried a modem.
Also, a friend of mine is having big problems with his PC, and he'd be interested too.
Cheers
Matt

jv16 power tools is good for getting rid of old unused registry entries, but 'format c:' would definitely cure everything ! Giving your computer an enema every once in a while works wonders

Webroot's SpySweeper is also good at cleansing the Registry (always back it up first though )
Spysweeper
Its an eval copy, but sped my PC up a bit....loads of malicious trojans and monitors.
If it's just surfing thats slow, may be worth fiddling around with your MTU settings; can be done via editing Registry or (more safely) via Dr TCP utility...think theres a full explaination of what MTU setting are too, IIRC...
Dr TCP
If you're using a router rather than a simple modem, then you alter the MTU in the setup of the router itself via a browser (as this is the bit making the connection for you)
