Would appear there is a mass shortage of the new slimline PS2... Good old Sony...
Sony have informed us that they will be out of stock of the PlayStation 2 console for the next few weeks. As a result, we do not expect to have this item in stock until January 2005.

Got one in my local Argos today. Web and phone says no stock. I went into the store yesterday, keyed in the cat. no 5677799 into stockchecker and it said no stock press enter for delivery info. It said 10 available Monday 29th please reserve one at the till. I did and picked it up tonight. Also got £10.00 gift voucher back as we spent over £100 with a couple of others bits and pieces. So call in store and see if you have any luck. Also got free second controller (not Sony) and after a 30 minute mix up and waiting in the queue also got Need for Speed Underground 2 thrown in. Couldn't believe our luck!

If you got to www.playstation.co.uk they have updates on there about the stock issues with the new ps2`s. Apparently a shipment is going out this week sometime. So good luck guys. I think it`s just a case of sony just being a bit reserved on their sales predictions, because a lack of stock does them no good coming up to xmas as they lose sales to other manufacturers

Don't bother trying the Sony Centre - I pre-ordered my PS2 from them thinking they'd stock their own shop first - didn't know they were totally independant at the time!
Are shops (GAME etc) taking pre-orders for the PSP?
