What app plays *.wmv files on a Mac
Newbie Mac user here wants to watch a windows media video file on my Mac, are there any apps out there besides windows media player for the Mac that can do this?
I have pretty much every other format covered besides this.
Cheers

As you know there is WMP (latest version available from www.microsoft.com/mactopia/ ) But there is also VLC, VLC plays pretty much anything.

Ah, WMP for Mac, not the nicest app in the world. MS has crippled it somewhat, things tend to jump around a bit from time to time. not good.
VLC? that's a new one on me, think I'll have a shufti for that.

Also try MPlayer for Mac OS X
http://mplayerosx.sourceforge.net/
I use it as a partner in crime to VLC. WMP on the Mac is horrible, and it doesn't work with any DRM/subscription content. A shame as Office Mac is a great app

Definitely worth a go. Will even play VOB files from DVD's
I think www.versiontracker.com is the best place to pick it up from.
Danny, do you have a Sony Ericsson phone?

I downloaded the VLC player and I can hear the sound to the video clip but see no any video??
I didn't have time to investigate further but will have another go tonight.
Hopefully this weekend I can experiment more and get all my files from the pc backup transferred to the Mac and then just use the pc for emergencys

Ahh, Sailing Software, lovely. Of course, you'd also need the machine to have a bluetooth adaptor in it
Got a T68i and Dlink Bluetooh USB 'thing' plus Sailing clicker. Wonderful bit of software. The erriccson client stuff is good too, and there is a theme editor as well.
