Compaq Proliant Urgent Help Required
Just wondering if anybody has any ideas on this little problem. We applied MS Security patches this morning (MS04-029,031,032,036 & 037) to one of the production servers here (Proliant 3000 with Smart 2DH array controller.External scsi connector of 2DH links to a Proliant storage system with 6 hard disks/2 logical drives)
When we reboot now,we basically don't see the 2 logical drives from within the OS.Compaq ACU and ADU both see the drives etc from outside of the OS ie Booting from Smartstart CD but nothing when in the OS (Win NT4 SP6a)
Anyone got any ideas or seen this kind of thing before cos this is driving me crazy??
I've downloaded the latest drivers for the 2DH and installed them again (They were already installed) but to no avail...
Thanks in advance
Nick

The patches you've installed do in fact warn you to check to see if you are running on a Compaq server with a Smart Array as they bugger up the drivers.
Don't worry, I'm not preaching - I did the exact same thing myself (twice).
Create the WinNT drivers install diskette and run the WinNT install again.. picking F6 when prompted (watch for it, it's so you can load additional drivers.)
Once you have the base install back on, go for the restore option...
Actually just re-read that post... you HAVE NT loaded but no external array?
Just d/l the Compaq SSD's from the site and go for it....

Was under immense pressure from my customer yesterday to get this up and running.
Problem is now resolved though - My initial thought was to install a second copy of NT4 in parallel to the existing one but as the original install was done by somebody else and was crap I decided to bite the bullet and wipe and reinstall the system partition.Once reinstalled,I could then see the logical drives that I was missing so it does sound driver related and even though I uninstalled the hotfixes we'd applied earlier it still did not resolve the problem
Thanks for your help guys

It wouldn't unfortunately as it overwrites the Compaq drivers... it's the actual array drivers that get buggered up by the patches... complete pain in the **** that it was.

Don't suppose you have a web link to this array driver problem do you? (Knowledge base or similar)
