I've got the Logitech version (MX700) and put it into the charging cradle when I'm not using the PC. When I tried leaving it out, batteries lasted 2-3 weeks, but you don't get much warning when they run out.

I don't pick mine up enough to notice the light flashing - never realised *that* was a sign of imminent power failure

LOL - I sometimes get half way up the stairs and still have it in my hand... I hate that! I have to make a detour and pop it back in my study

Logitech MX700 is the best of the bunch

Always put mine back on recharge during the night in its little holder.

Lasts a couple of days without recharge.

I got 2 Microsoft ones, one is now a bit old but well worn Intellimouse Explorer 5 button job and the other is one of the new 3 button horizontal scroll ones with the carbon fibre look.

Both are excellent and the first one is about 2 years old and hasn't had a single problem.

Both work perfect with me Mac

On my Mac I use MX900 paired to a D-link bluetooth adapter and Gamepad Companion to program the additional buttons.
