Default DVD stuff

Now then fella!

Just up my street this is. I use a programe called DVDShrink to rip the DVD to the hard drive. It removes the macrovision and region coding. You can then burn it all back to DVD with Nero etc. You can get a 7.odd DVD onto a 4.7gb disc, hence the name.

Its all free btw and there should be enough software available to create AVI's (DivX or XVid)

PM me if you have any problems or cant get the software.

You'll find all the guides you're likely to need at:

Excellent - thanks

I want to compress to circa 700mb - presumably there is software so that you can adjust the compression to fit on a 700mb disc..... i.e. dont want it compressing to say 200mb or 1gb.....on some sort of default crappy program

ps - havent got aroud to reading the post bist above - but you can be sure that I will!!

Why would you want to compress a DVD down to 700MB to fit on a CD-R?

DVD media can be just as cheap as CD's so I don't see any advantage in what you're looking to achieve.

The only benefit of such a huge compression would be if you planned to P2P a film to someone that's on dial-up!
