No substitute for getting hands on. Old routers now on EBay for peanuts.
I dont know of any on-line stuff as I prefer real books (to be read in those quieter moments of the day )
I can recommend "Managing IP network with Cisco Routers" by O'Reilly. Excellent practical introduction. There's many books out there for CCNA level - best spend an afternoon in a big waterstones finding one that you like the style.
Once you're past CCNA level there's no substitute for the Cisco Press books. Lots of overlaps beteen books and some are "dryer" than others but all have good quailty info in

Getting back into it? How long have you been out? I've been out 12 months and forgotten an awful lot. Although I'd jump at the chance of a job that involved BGP. Looking at some MPLS contracts at the moment, but I don't have any MPLS experience.
dsmith -- what are you up to these days? IIRC you were employed through IDL -- my understanding is they went down the pan.

I used Azlan for my CCNA. They were not bad although they don't use hardware any more, just software emulators
I'd rather pay more and get my mits on some hardware

Thankfully the emulator I used supported all the usual commands, for things like conf term, show running-config. We did not really get to heavly involved with many other commands. Most of it was subnetting and the layers
