LCD Screens - is 25ms response time ok for games/dvd?
As title guys I'm looking to buy a new computer soon and would like an LCD display and preferably a 19" one. I realise there is usually no resolution difference with the 19 over the 17 but the extra image size would be welcomed.
However, it seems that nearly all the 19" screens have a response time of 25ms vs (usually) about 16ms for the 17" counterparts. Is 25s too slow to play games on and watch DVD's? Any other general 'LCD buying' advice apprecaited as well

25ms is generally considered too slow for fast action games, though there are some reasonable ones around. It depends how much you want to spend, but it is certainly possible to get them with 16 or 12ms response times.
Mine's a 20" Dell that gives 1600x1200 with a full colour 16ms response time. It's brilliant for games!

Just wana say, i'd rather spend the extra on the CRT. than flat screen. I have a Sony 15" flat sitting idol, becuase i need Bright large fast response so that i get no excuse for missing my target.. mind can always blame the dog.
But really, i'd get down to pc world and test drive one of the good ones.. If you have the space CRT get one, if not, and you can afford the TFT then go flat.
simple.. its a matter of space. flat still does'nt cut the mustard for me.

I've just bought an Iiyama E481S 19inch LCD monitor, it has a 25ms response time and it has barely noticeable lag in Counterstrike. I have tried other games like CMR 4 and Unreal Tournament 2004 and I haven't noticed any lag at all.
It does seem to differ between the different manufacturers though, so be careful what make of monitor you buy. For the record I am using the DVI input of the monitor.

Anyone recommend any 19” LCD’s with a sub 25ms response time?

I have the Dell UltraSharp 2001FP screen which is 20" with a 16ms response time. Fantastic quality 1600x1200 native resolution. Works brilliantly on flight sims such as Aces High and other games such as Far Cry, Call of Duty etc.
Not cheap (about £800) but well worth it

I have a Samsung 181t monitor and it has a 25ms response time, it makes me feel sick if a play a gime like GTA. too much motion blur
I also have a Iiyama 431s tft which has a 16ms response and it is soo much better, i can play any game without a problem, it is nearly as good as a crt.. I'dd give it a couple of years before they match CRT monitor performance
