2002! bit behind the times I know. However, I have total freedom of internet access at work, so did not see that much point in having at home, then mum and dad decided they wanted to learn to email, so we got a computer and net access.

1995 with compuserve.
then had FREE internet access with www.localtel.co.uk!!! it was the first telephone company with free internet access as part of the telephone subscription! localtel then come worldonline, and then tiscali, and there goes the FREE internet access .

1993 via a dialin to a university SunSparc. Command line only though!
Anyone remember before the WWW took off? There was FTP sites listed in the back of PC magazines, it was the only way to find them! Then Gopher came along and revolutionised file finding!
I remember viewing some of the first web sites through the first version of NSCA Mosaic!

Compuserve used to be little more than a BBS system, until they started offering internet email addresses. You had to memorise a ridiculously long number as your email address e.g. 23674,34973@compuserve.com

94 I think with demon and good old dos KAQ9, early enough that I was on their core 158.152 address range anyway . Long time before that with my bbc 'b' and a nightingale modem, dialling into prestel and one of the bbs' up in manchester mostly....
