Viruses - HOW many in the last week?!
Has anyone else noticed an increase in the number of viruses around lately?
Last year I received a total of four infected emails all year. This year so far I've had 42, of which 17 (representing four different viruses) arrived in the last week.
Is that normal? (At least money spent on anti-virus software doesn't seem like such a waste!)

These AV software companies are working great guns to promote how essential their products are
Check the jobs sections: Large software house requires an experienced virus writer to help....

yep its becoming a fecking epidemic, I get about half a dozen a day, mainly that friggin paypal account has expired. Sure my AV kicks em all out but whats annoying is outlook popups a dialog window right in the middle of whatever Im doing.
a 20" imac is beckoning, everything is aimed at M$ and its just getting a fecking joke now and I think it will just get worse.

Everyone in the Antivirus industry used to work in Windscreen repair. Sitting in a office writing viruses is far nicer than standing on the street throwing stones.
This latest round has been a pain in the butt, nothing clever, just spam with a sting in the tail. The incredible number of new computer/internet users at home that have yet to be bitten by the 'double click' are the root cause. Hopefully the twice shy rule will apply and we'll have a quiet summer.
