well, you can PM me if you want, have been in macintosh tech support for 12 years

You could also look at:

MacFixIT

More specifically the forums on there.

Depends what your problems are really, if you want to post up, go ahead, there are a few mac types on here.

I'll try and help too. I work for MacWarehouse but am not as technical as some of the others here.

I've found http://forums.macrumors.com/ to be the best.

Spymac's good, but there appear to be too many know-it-all kids on there for my liking.

While the Mac gurus are present. Is Norton Utilities 7 (for OS X) not advisable for use on Panther? I ran Disk Doctor and Speed Disk last night and when I restarted I ended up in Unix being told something about my password being wrong. Re-ran Doctor and the Disk Utility on the Panther install with no errors reported but still couldn't boot up. Ended up doing a full erase and re-install of everything. Do I need an updated Norton Utilities?

Now, is it NAV or NU that is meant to be a major no-no for OS X? I've had a few clients mention to me that they have read/experienced major problems if the Utils are installed on the hard drive, ok to run them from CD, but not install. Not sure if this only relates to Jag systems though, would have possible thought so though.

SATMAN - glad you got the problem sorted If you have any other mac related problems, you now know there are some guru's about. I'm not including myself in that, as I'm just a geek, not a guru

Noth NAV and NU are very version specific. Not just version 7 or 8 etc. We have had plenty of batches that did not work and Symantec advise you to download the updates which is not much good if you are trying to boot from the CD. Best bet is to check with your supplier or wait to ensure it if fully compatible with your OS down to the small points eg 10.2.8 etc.

You pretty m,uch have to always use the latest version with the latest OS or problems can arrise.

Funnilly enough we've found some latrer versions don;t work as we;ll with older version of the OS too but this was really just an 8.6 to OS 9 problem.
