Should be pointed out that it isn't just WinXP that's affected by this issue, Win2003 (obviously), Win2k and NT are potentially at risk.

The guy who made the MyDoom virus must be doing his nut, he was trying to bring windows update to a standstill apparently. seems microsoft have done this themselves, on broadnand I am getting a download speen of 1.2kb fro there site.

farmer1 has hit the nail on the head. I thought exactly the same this morning when I couldn't get onto Microsoft's site at all. Microsoft have probably managed to launch the most successful distributed denial of service attack in the history of the Internet on themselves
