I'm looking for a PDA under £200. Can you please let me know your recommendations as I haven't got a clue, but now got to a stage where diaries are dated at work and I seriously need to get organised. Excel and word will be a bonus, but not sure if I can get that for under £200.

Cheers
Steven

Yup, second that. They're a bargain but as well spec'd as the best.

100% agree with the above, I have heard some people say they prefered them to an IPAQ at twice the price

A bit more than you'd like to spend (which doesn't answer your question at all ) but how about this?

I've seen the Dell Axims for £177, is this a good price, or are there better deals about?

Work out what you need first, ie SDIO capability, SD and/or CF expansion, bluetooth, Wifi, GPS navigation.

Is size/weight important to you?
How much memory will you need in the PDA?

regards,

Greg

I have a Sony TJ-35 - Amazon have a deal on at the moment for a free 128MB memory stick (worth about £40)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...033578-3763020

IMHO - PalmOS is much better the PocketPC

How do the Sony's compare to the Dell's? Is there much in them?

Size and weight not a big issue, but what as good a spec as I can get for the money. Dell's are definately being raved about.

The Sony and Dell run different operating systems (PalmOS and PocketPC respectively). For me, PalmOS is simpler and more productive to use that PocketPC devices. You need to try them both out to decide. It all depends on whether you want a PDA (PalmOS) or a mini-PC (PocketPC) that fits in your pocket.

Personally I think the Dells are great value for money but too big, if you want PocketPC take a look at the IPAQ 1940s and 2210s, or the Sony's for palm.

http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=108344

As I said, you need to work out what you want it to do, maybe a P900 or MS Smartphone could do what you want??

regards,

greg

Pick up a Dell PDA, and then pick up an Ipaq. Then you realise why the Ipaq is more costly for similar specs. I went for an Ipaq 1940 and am very happy. The 22xx is exactly the same, but also has Compact Flash slot and is slightly deeper.

The 22xx is'nt the same as the 1940, there is a difference in the processor speed as well as a few other minor differences.

Been looking at getting one of these myself and someone on here posted a web site a few weeks ago & they were even cheaper than Expansys but can't find the web site again now! Try doing a search on here for it as I know the 2210 were going for £280 inc VAT.

DELL is just too lardy!!! compare the size/weight and imagine you have to lug it about with you! go for the small PDA like ipaq, palm or sony.

I would rather it was compatable with Windows excel and word than using it's own operating system, and the weight/size is not really a big deal for the right model. The information is good though, so keep it coming please.

stevenuk300 - The lastest Palms and Sony's with DocsToGo or similar are as good as the PocketPC versions of Word and Excel nowadays. Also, the lastest Sony's have this truly amazing viewer built in to the operating systems which will read .doc .xls .pdf .ppt files. Personally, this is the killer app for me in the Sony's and hardly anything is made of it.

The one thing I will say about Dell is that you need to have somebody home at the registered cardholder's address - you can't deliver it elsewhere or pick it up from a depot. PITA

JAMES - No that wasn't the web site that was mentioned before but well done because thats even cheaper on the web site you have mentioned so think I will look into getting a 2210 from there

Oh is it plus VAT them prices.........will have to have a look.

Thanks again!

Oh just had look and the £259 is + VAT. Here is the other site that it was on for £289 Inc VAT. Doesn't seem to be listed on their site at the moment tho so not sure if its in stock?? - http://www.eurosimm.com
