Just upgraded gfx card from Asustek GeForce 2 GTS 64mb to a Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro. I previously had the Call of Duty Dawnville Demo installed and it really struggled on my old gfx card.

Now I have the Radeon its better but still very slow when the fights get big and lots of bullets fly around. This is on a low res (1024) 16bit and 2nd top setting for most visual affects.

Radeon is running cat 3.8 drivers.

Rest of system is:

Athlon 1.4 running at 1466mhz
756mb (3 x 256mb) Crucial PC2100 Memory
Ibm 40 gig 7200 ATA-100 HDD
Asus AV266 Mobo (Via chipset I believe)

I mainly bought it for dx9 compatability which is fine as Max Payne 2 runs sweet as you like.

Is the rest of my system a bottleneck? What are other people running Call of Duty on and how does it perform?

Thanks,
Simon.

has the system set your graphics at that level or have you upped it to that, game runs sweet on mine at 1600x1200, 32 bit, but my processor and graphics card are a little bit better than yours.

Upped to what? Nothing seems set to high. How much faster is ur cpu and gfx to run at that res?

Unhappy

I wouldnt know as I cant be arsed to play it in the current state. Will fiddle with the setting when I get home from work. Hoping its something obvious as dont really fancy forking out for new cpu, mobo & memory at present.

Cool

I have P4 2.6 800FSB, 1gb PC3200 Ram (2 x 512 MB in dual channel mode), Radeon 9600XT, running Cat 3.9 (Omega drivers tho, not ATi).

Have had no trouble running CoD in any res so far, so as your GFx card is only a bit slower than mine, I would suggest the rest of your system si the bottleneck.

It's Xmas, treat yourself!!!!!

check if you have AF or AA on, as that will slow it down a lot.

I have a 3.4ghz p4 with a 9800pro, and i can notice it slow down during busy scenes, but thats probably cos i use 8x AF.

I am running COD on a Toshiba Laptop with the following spec.

Pentium 4M 1.7 GHZ,512 MB DDR PC2100 RAM, 400 MHZ FSB, 32 MB Nvidia GeForce4 Go 440 Graphics (seperate memory), 15" 1400 x 1050 UXGA Screen, Inbuilt stereo speakers with sub woofer and SPDIF optical output.

I am running the game with everything set to maximum and at resolution of 1280 x 1024. It works great. The only problem is that I can only play the game in Safe mode. This means that I have to change all of the settings from the default settings everytime I play the game. The PC will not retain these settings despite the fact they work perfectly so everytime I use the standard start option the game freezes after the video is played. Very annoying. Any ideas.
