When going into my "my Videos" folder in XP or opening up Windows Media Player 9 I keep getting a message saying I need to install a Indeo Codec and have the option to continue, if I do so everything seems to work fine.
It gives a web site to go to but says have to pay $20 or something, whats this all about then???

Dont know how much help this is but a codec is a way of encoding the information into a digital format for you to download and playback. Indeo is a type of codec and you can probably download the codec to play it back here
