yes i'm very sure messiah but want know whether if i bought it somewhere on a website eg asian website, would it work on my UK PS2 or would i need it chipped? and if it did could i get a universal chip where i can buy foreign games, but my current ones are still valid on it?

Yep, like B2Z said, you will need to chip it. All of your other games will still work fine.

B2Z its a street racing game based on the movie "Initial D" wheres they race using the method drifting, also a fan of the movie so would be good to have the game along with the movie. and cheers for that Dj DUNK if i do get it chipped and my old games don't work, are they liable for whats happened?

Well, its down to you and whoever you get to chip your PS2 as to whether they are liable or not. Its worth noting that if you chip your machine your Sony warranty is void.

. . . but they will still work

The other alternative to chipping is the Flip-Top Lid and the Action Replay Disc, although, your warranty will still be void because it involves removing the casing to replace with the flip-top case.
