I know I've asked this before, but cannot for the life of me find the thread or remember the answer.
I want to find out what some of the things being started from the registry Run section are. The descriptions against them is vague to say the very least. I seem to recall there was a site that listed thousands of apps and gave chapter and verse about them.

I wrote an application a while back to show the contents of HKLM & HKCu start up (Run/Run Once/etc) and located the exe file and gave you the company name from the exe header information. If someone can host it I'll email it to them, so you all can download.

MSCONFIG will tell you what the exe file being run is, and where it is coming from, but the description is still very vague (identical to the description from registry), but does nowt to let you know what it actually is.
For example, could you tell what XRXFTPLT.EXE was for, without searching the net?

here you go chaps.
http://www.qucami.net/RegRunCheck.exe
Me and my dad use this in the windows start up folder (start menu) as it's the last auto Start Up section that windows runs.
It's very useful to see what places itself in your startup, like any spyware, trojans, etc
