Just make sure the disk can be locked if you want to use X-Box Live!!

I use a program called Config Magic to lock mine

I put the Maxtor 120GB drive in mine

Not sure of the model number though, will have to have a look when I get home.

The lock is basically so when you go on X-Box live it can't detect you have a bigger hard drive installed.

Check out this site for info and download of Config magic

You need to register for free before accessing the downloads page

Cheers

Agree, I'd avoid the IBM drives, especially in an X-Box where temperatures and reliability are all important. I have a Seagate 120Gb drive in mine, many of the original X-Box drives are Seagate too. Can't fault WD or Maxtor either though.

You won't notice much in the way of performance improvements with a 7200rpm drive either.

Thanks for the help just ordered a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 120GB IDE ATA/100 hard drive 2MB cache 7200RPM from www.komplett.co.uk for £68.73.
Can i just plug it in and use my slayers 2.1 disk to set it up?

Just had a brief look at the forums on the Team Assembly site and it seems Config Magic can now unlock 160GB drives

Someone has got past the 137GB problem

blitzed - have a look at the forums on here to check compatibility with your hard drive

Edited cause it's far too early to be able to spell
