I'm looking for a step-down transformer so I can plug in my Japanese Super Famicom. I've looked at Maplins site and also RS, can't find anything domestic just the lab bench-top stuff which is a bit heavy duty. Any ideas?

Cheers,
Steve.

Most console shops should have them. Another idea would be to use a shaver socket on an extension lead, or get another power adapter.

No shops I've tried have had them unfortunately. Anyone got a UK PAL SNES? Can you see what the output of the transformer is? I think the Famicom is 10V at 850ma.

Cheers,
Steve.

Do a search on Google for step down transformer. I did a while ago, as I also need one for travelling to the states Snow Boarding.
I think they are around £30, but cant remember the site.

First thing I did was turn to Google Found nothing but expensive bench top stuff. Ideally I'd get another transformer.

I think I might need to create a new topic for someone to check their UK SNES transformer for me

Cheers,
Steve.

I will look tonight for you. I bought my super famicon back with me with a game doctor on

But the transformer I got with the famicon says it works on 220-110v 50/60Hz, and that works fine here. What did you get with yours?

Ooh nice one chaps, been a bit busy with work this afternoon but I'll have a look when I get home, cheers

Edit, HHxx, with mine I have the original Japanese transformer with Japanese plug on it, says 100V input so it's going to fry. I can't plug it anywhere anyway because of the Japanese plug so no worries there I've got a UK PAL version on its way to me anyway so I'm hoping that'll work, but I can't find any specs for the UK PAL version transformer so if you can find out that would be great, and save me some cash.

Steve.

Steven, the transformers I got with my Super Famicon are not the Japanese ones, they are the HK ones with 2 pin shaver type connector.

The specs on mine are:
Input: 220v 50/60Hz
Output: 10v 850mA
middle pole on connector is negative, outside positive.

You should be able to get away with 9v adapters.

Got a UK PAL SNES, checked the transformer and they're not the same, supplies 9V at 1.3A compared to the Japanese 10V at 850ma.

Was a potentially expensive post-pub experiment but can't smell any burning so far Just been thrashing Pop'n'Twinbee.

Who reckons they can kick my **** at Street Fighter II? I really think I'm the best in the UK
