New Panasonic CF 50 Tougbook Crackling Noise on my Maya EX USB soundcard
#1
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. I have just purchased a Panasonic CF 50 Toughbook running Windows XP Professional. I am using BPM PRO software and a Maya EX 3 Channel Stereo Out Soundcard. I am using this system for DJing. Basically I am getting a crackling noise through the soundcard when it is connected to my mixer(working fine) and the audio sometimes cuts on 1 side (stereo). The sound is perfect if I play it through the Laptop speakers/headphones! I also installed the same software and hardware on my mates older Dell running Windows ME and hey presto it works fine. The software and hardware are compatable with Windows XP and I have tried reinstalling but no joy. I suspect that there is a USB issue on my machine but I have tried both ports with no success. All the drivers for my new software are allso up to date. Can you help?

My thoughts . . . .
Have you tried another phono (?) cable to your mixer ?
Is it a 3.5mm jack to twin phono lead ?
Have you tried another channel on the mixer ?
Are there other outputs on the soundcard you can use to connect to the mixer ?
Tried adjusting the output volume from the soundcard ?
All I can think of trying at the mo . . .

Thanks for your reply mate. Mixer Pioneer DJM 600 is fine as are the leads and all the software and hardware audio gains as I get the same problem when I plug my headphones into the Maya USB soundcard headphone jack although the sound is fine when I plug headphones into the Panasonic. I think it is a USB Driver problem.
I have my suspicions that there are incompatibility issues between Panasonic, Windows XP and Maya USB soundcard. The sound improved to within 85% of perfect when 1 of the 4! (windows 2000 on Dell has just 1) USB Hubs were disabled. Unfortunately I cannot disable any more hubs as these affect BPMs Dongle and the Soundcard. I have searched the Web up and down for updated XP USB Drivers but no joy. I may have to change my OS to Windows 2000 if I can get a copy that will run on my XP any help here would be greatly appreciated.
Simon.

Are you up-to-date with your XP service packs ?
Agree, does sound like a USB problem. Maybe something to do with erratic USB power causing the static. If it was a PC I'd suggest trying a USB2.0 PCI card to see if that solves the problem - assuming the lappy is USB1.1 ?
Is the soundcard powered by USB too ?
Edit: Also have you done the calibration for the card ?

Hi Mate.
Yes the sound card is powered from the USB.
It is a brand new laptop which lead me to believe it is a USB 2.0 but Im not sure how to check the version.
I have done a test on the card using BPM, and all the options on the card are set according to the manual. Can it be calibrated any more?
Kind Rgds
