can anyone help....
we have a checkpoint PDS & can't change the IP info either through the gui or telnet...
gui lets you alter data but won't save
telnet & putty accepts username but not password, it just closes the connection down. If I put the incorrect password in it gives access denied...so I assume it's accepting the actual telnet session.
I know these boxes are fairly new from Checkpoint.
any ideas/help ??
cheers

steve, looks like either the password file is corrupt, but as the unit ship direct then our supplier said they are helpless.
they did send a link to a doc that tells how to reimage the unit but I don't know if we should be doing that to be honest.
cheers anyway

hmm. Until you see one imaged live, I wouldn't - unless the supplier will guarantee a new one if the image process goes t1ts up.
New box then .......doesn't say much about their QA testing does it ?

I didn't say it was the best Jeff.....
I like the idea of Netscreen as it's hardware technology & a lot faster I beleive at handling connections & more secure......
This is Checkpoints offering for the smaller site....

even the support 0800 number on the Intrusion site was dead...that was useful then!!
the web front end is pretty cool though (geek_head_on), just won't hold the config changes.
Does look a nice bit of kit & at £650 for the box & now checkpoint do the 5 user licence option, it is viable for smaller sites
edited to add. you like the look of the terminator 3 film steve mail my private addy if you do
