Driving Games

I'd be interested to see which driving games you all recommend (for the PC)
I have an ACT-LABS RS Force wheel with quickshift / 5 speed / 6 speed gearstick plates.
I have CMR1 and CMR2, the Need for Speed series, and GPL. I also have the Rally Championship game and the rally legends one.
I want to steer clear (no pun intended ) of NASCAR and Indy / F1 / Karting games.
Thanks in advance.

Sports Car GT (oldie but goodie)
Total Immersion Racing (once you get past the early cars)
I'm not sure about Toca Race Driver. It's much more of a game than a sim, has an annoying story line (that you can turn off fortunately0 and the handing can be a little odd. That said, it's still a laugh.

GTR 2002, this is a top mod (modification) for the F1 2002 game, its free (although its a huge 275 meg dl 50 meg patch), its v. v. realistic in all respects, has all the great GT cars Marcos, 550's, Diablos, Lister etc and BMW and Ferarri 360's, great sounds, great tracks (including the full 'Ring' AKA 'The Green Death' ), great, close net racing with loads of folk involved with regular twice weekly organised races, and on a similar note you can also get the Alpha and M3 challenge mods for F1 2002, and did i say THEY ARE ALL FREE
LFS is ok if a bit slow, tame and amateurish.

Live For Speed. Good for a five minute burn or a serious session. Rally X and normal tracks too.

This article was writen by Malcolm Edeson, a professional race driver, instructor and driver coach. In it he trys to evaluate a driving "sim" as to how good/complete it is and compares GTR 2002 to other sims.

Force feed back wheels, a bit of in car pitching and rolling and computer generated tyre squeal are the only ways you have of understanding what is happening beneath you in a PC driving sim, NO PC sim will ever be like real driving but they can still be as accurate and realistic as possible on todays home PC's.
Read the article above and see what a real race car driver thinks, its quite interesting.

Dreamweaver, LFS is OK, but I'm afraid it isn’t a patch on GTR 2002, and Im not talking GT3 btw, GT3 is a nice looking console game with no damage model (GT4 for that ).
OK, LFS is still in its infancy yet, and yes I have played LFS quite a bit, 'but' it doesn’t offer the same experience as GTR, no way. LFS is more of a track day blast with the m8's where GTR is 'ultra' realistic and ultra competitive at the higher levels of internet competition, and it has a huge, huge world wide following and user base.
Check out http://www.findthelimit.com/gtr2002/ to see what I mean. Findthelimit uses a telemetry mod to score your worldwide rankings based on both how many tracks you have set times on, and the times themselves.
Crash heavily in your BMS or Alexander Frei Ferrari in GTR and unlike LFS you aint getting back on the track with wheels, wings or spoilers intact. Tire temperatures, radiator openings, bump stops etc etc etc.
GTR 2002 (along with GPL if thats your thing) is the daddy of driving games atm, full stop. LFS is only a distraction atm if you play GTR competitively over the net. Dont get me wrong I like LFS and will be playing it a bit more as It has improved a good deal recently.
Burr, dunno what wheel Malcolm Edeson uses but I would imagine its something a bit more advanced that the PC World kit most use. I use a Ball Racing Developments Pro V2 wheel and Speed 7 pedals http://www.interactiveracing.com/, and yes GTR will be compatible with your 6 speed shifter.

I have it set to a button on my wheel as you need it for leaving and entering the pits, if its on it will stay on until 'you' switch it off. Look under your controller configs to see what its mapped as at present, its obviously on a key press atm.
