Sent myself an attachment today from work PC to home PC (.dll file). Outlook Express has now "removed access to the following unsafe attachments........"

How can I access the file, searched hard drive for file with no joy

Its in the security tab in Options

There's a ticky-box about OE preventing access to files that might be viruses. Untick it (or do the opposite to what it is now)

This is normally due to service packs, a way round it, (it works for me) is to install the SP first then install Outlook Express, OE wont remove it then.
