....as I live in a field my connection speed has been pathetic...typically benchmarked at 14-19kbps. This was both with BT and Freeserve.
This last week - BT spent three days up a pole fixing the connections and now I connect at 40kbps. HOWEVER this has made my connection to Freeserve MUCH slower - although I am connecting at 40kbps now when I benchmark it, I am getting anywhere between 7-14kbps.
When I try BT - I am getting 30-40kbps using the same benchmark.
Any clues as to why this is the case - or are Freeserve currently on their knees?!

With a supposed connection speed of 40k, I have tried pinging Scoobynet.
Typically it is timing out - but when it does I am getting pings of 800ms.
Is this normal!
Grumpy!

Do a tracert for www.freeserve.net. Im on Freeserve ISDN and its always timing out for me. My Claranet connection is fine and pings about 50 ms usually. Scoobynet pings 70 ms here.
