Question

It may be a muppet question, but I'm not particularly well up on the software thing. I'm running Windows ME

The answer is YES but only IF you have the right software/hardware...

At the most basic level, install an internal modem (normally a fax modem type) and obtain software that allows it to be used like a phone. Then get a headset/microphone.

Cool

Any recommendations, software-wise? I have a mic, speaker & internal modem already.

I had a first party CTI phone that enabled the PC to take answer phone messages - how bizarre is that!

PS It never worked very well tho!

I have something called PhoneTools by BVRP Ssoftware. It must have been installed on the PC from new and I have ignored it for several years. Recently found out it can dial out, act as answer machine, a speker-phone and send faxes. The only thing I ever did was send a fax to Austrlia once and it worked well once I had scanned the document in. Since I don't leave the PC on 24-7 I have never tried to use it for normal calls and don't really know what it can do!

Unhappy

I have just done a search on my PC & come up with something called Phone Dialler, it will ring a mobile telephone, but you cannot converse with it through the PC. Have I got something connected wrongly? Or, is this just the dialler need for the modem to work?
