Check the policy / warranty on dead pixels before you buy.

Chris.

Cool

DAC...if you want the best quality gear and excellent prices go to: www.itclear.com

The owners are scooby owners and provide excellent service. Just order myself a 17" compaq TFT.

here is their number: 0870 7588 156 and ask for Paul or Ian. Tell em I sent you.

thanks for replies - actually that price includes VAT - so £189
looks like a good price.

I will check warrant implications.

the companies linetx and itclear can't compete - but thanks it was worth a try.

Willie - I will consider one but obviously £189 inc VAT is more attractive.

Also check the refresh rate must be <30ms or less and the resolution. I Was put off one for gaming because I like to run 1600X1200 and 15-18 don't do that

Do people who know anything about computers ever buy anything from PC world or just laugh at people who buy Packard Bell Computers???

The Screen is cheap for two reasons, firstly it is made by a company you have never heard of and secondly it is probably a load of rubbish. Still most people who buy from PC world don't actually know what they are buying and are living in blissful ignorance.

Bit like people who buy their widescreen wharfdale telly's from Tesco's. Yes they are cheap but try comparing it to a decent telly. Still if you didn't know any better you would be happy....

Only two TFT monitors worth a damn out at the moment the Iiyama AS4314UTG and the Hitachi Hitachi CML174SXW. In general they are the best TFT manufacturers also, so if gonna buy cheap buy cheap from them.

The rest are all completely unsuitable for gaming and only useful for MS office work, buy a cheap CRT if you want a cheap decent monitor otherwise.

Hear Hear the post above, cheap = crap enuff said

I agree - you usually get what you pay for - but not everybody is a computer buff and/or has time to compare
refresh rates/gigabytes with me isdn cable slotted up me jacksie. LOL

Tesco do cheap CD's and they come from same place
so why not PC's Tellys etc.

I only need it as a home /office monitor - aint got time for games neither.
Thanks for the advice - it is useful and I will look at specs.

I was just given one that came with a Mesh PC system. Dont know the brand but its black & is rubbish for watching films. However, it has saved me loads of desk space & looks pretty neat too.
