Is it down at the moment or is it my configuration?

I can connect through the network setup bit, but when I try and sign up for a new account it says that its not available and to try later......

I've forwarded the ports 88 and 3074 (from memory) in my RT314 router and still no joy.

I'll try again later, but it would be nice if I could see I wasn't the only one experiencing problems?

btw... my login / handle will be "burratha" for all those bothered.

Burr: I just got my XBOX live today and had the same problem as you. I have the RT311 router and found I could register but not connect until I changed the 'default' port value and all other port assignments to point at the XBOX (hope this makes sense).
As soon as I did this it burst into life.
I didn't have a list of ports used by XBOX, so for the time being I've redirected all of them.
Doesn't seem to have broken my existing environment yet, but I suspect I would be unable to use Unreal Tournament or Quake Arena on the PC with this configuration.

Don't fancy forwarding all my ports to the Xbox.... but if it gets me online, I can always disable them afterwards I suppose.

Thumbs up

The only problem I had was NTL lock out any boradband access not matching your PC's MAC id, so I had to get that and input it into the settings area in Live account.
After that it was sweet as a nut.

PiNkEyE69: With the NetGear routers you can configure this so that all outgoing packets are tagged with the PCs MAC address (or any MAC address that NTL is expecting), that's generally how it's configured, so then you don't need to worry about what the XBOX's MAC is.

Apparently the ports you need to setup are as follows:-

Port 88, for UDP send & receive - this is used for Kerberos security.
Port 53, for UDP Send & Receive - this is used for DNS queries.
Port 53, for TCP Send & Receive - this is used for DNS queries.
Port 3074, for UDP send & receive - XBOX specific stuff.
Port 3074, for TCP send - XBOX specific stuff.

Hope this helps.
