Anyone know of any issues with DSL and routers with apples? I need to get DSL @ home and was wondering if someone had already done this. Best router to get and ISP for Mac support etc!

Thanks

As long as you are using a Router and an IP stack on the Mac there shouldn't be a problem. The only problem would be if you try and use a USB modem.

Hi,

I was happily running a ADSL USB modem (the Alcatel frog thing from BT) on Mac OS 9.2.2 - then decided to upgrade to 10.1.5 and the thing didn't work any more.

Got a Nokia IP55 router (rebadged Webramp 600i) from itchest.co.uk and it works great with the TCP stack in OS X.

It also improves the computer performance a lot as the iMac has to have pretty much everything running off the USB bus (keyboard, mouse, printer, scanner, Palm, digital camera in our case) so taking internet access off of USB reduces the bus contention a lot which stops things like the mouse locking up when you're downloading something.

My 2p's worth,

Simon.

Thumbs up

Mine was all GUI setup and I got all the settings for BT Openworld off a posting on a web site - dunno what you'd need for Nildram, but it'll probably be similar.

Best of luck,

Simon.
