shutting down Win98....

....on my father in law comp, basicly there is something still running and the only way to turn it off is to press and hold the switch. Msg: win is shutting down pls wait (or something in those lines)
B4 I'll have to go there in person (he doesn't live around the corner) any ideas?

there was a fault i think on win98 in which you can download a patch for it but then again, after i downloaded the patch it still didn't shut down properly so i got XP for it.

There is a patch on the MS website for this error. In the knowledge base there are also ways to fix this problem by changing the advanced power management setting.

try this...
goto start/run and type msconfig. somewhere there, there's an advance button. click on that and you need to turn off "fast shutdown" or something.
sorry i dont have win98 with me and me brain cell is not as good.
