Question

My daughters e-mail account is being spammed relentlessly - she gave her e-mail to some sites when surfing - in all innocence

The content is not suitable in most cases, but the main worry is she went online tonight and had 1967 e-mails YES, you heard correctly!! 1967!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! which took ages to download.

Anyway, my question, we have decided to dump her account and create another - trouble is - I have forgotten how I did her first one!! such is age! how do I delete her old one and create another?

Please make it simple

Pete

If it is a Microsoft Outlook account go to File - Identities - Manage Identities - select the account and click on Remove.

Hope this helps

Thanks MATT - not sure that will work as all it has in there is 'Main Identity' - no names or anything.

We are running XP and we have our own log-in accounts, so when she goes on Microsoft Outlook it knows it is her and only downloads HER e-mails, not mine or the wifes!

If I could remember how I set up a new account I would be halfway there

Not wise to go asking Fathers if their daughters are fit - you just may wake up with cement boots ........... you are clearly WAY too immature for her!!

Is your daughter single by any chance? Who knows, this 19 year old boy might even be your son in law one day daddy..

edit: I got rid of them gold alloys too recently just for you.

The answer I think you are really after Pete, if you have not already got it from the computer related forum, is as follows:

Outlook Express --> Tools --> Accounts --> click on the mail tab to display all the accounts set up. Highlight the offending account by clicking on it (goes shaded) then click on the remove button on the right.

To add a new account click Add --> Mail --> then follow the wizard (you will need to know stuff like the outgoing and incoming mail server addresses e.g. pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk as well as a username and password)

Works great for me on Yahoo.

Cheers, Jon

Ps. Two more tips for you:

1# you can create rules within outlook express to delete mail either after it has downloaded or from the server without downloading it

2# better still, you can set message rules on the webmail account so that they delete them for you

PPs. email me (in profile) if you need talking through) as I am ex-help desk
