Im doing this tutorial which is ideally for flash 4, but im stuck!

ive got a couple of layers, and on one of them in the very 1st frame i want a STOP; so no action takes place, but the stop doesnt work. With it being such a simple task is there more then meets the eye?

Thanks

Si

Haven't played with Flash MX for about 6 months now, but try moving the start points for your bottom 4 layers on one frame. i.e. move the starting symbols to frame 2 for each.

Ive just emailed you mate. Im following
http://www.baycongroup.com/flash/05_flash_tutorial.htm

I think i need a good book on this. Any recommendations?? got a choice of

Examples of this would be :

* Develop a 3d/interactive model of the college site.
* Evaluate and develop a support process to aid online learning
* Develop a web enabled Microsoft Office Application
* Develop web pages using an innovative plug in..
* Providing prospective students with up to date course information via electronic media.
* Design a multimedia application to support your organisation.

Think im off for the model, but is flash the right tool?

I may have missed the point totally here as I don't really like MX all that much, but in your stop layer (I'd personally have an Actions layer instead btw for all action script) youv'e should have stop(); not stop;

Cheers
Dave

(Ive just woken up from nights, so I hope I havent misread this too much! )

Once you get your head around levels, where things sit, and learn about actions for frames/buttons Flash can be great fun.

Best thing to do Si is experiment. Set yourself a few little projects then just play. when you get stuck come on here or search the net. Projects can be anything - floating menus, fades/wipes, text etc etc.

A good one is to try and make a flash equiv of a frames page (without actually using frames)
