My Password Is Correct, But I Can't Recieve E - Mails.

Question

When I go to outlook and check for messages, a prompt comes up asking for my password and username. I put them in but it is saying my password is wrong, when I know for a fact it isn't. It has been like this for well over two months now

Can anyone help ? Its a Freeserve account by the way.

is it a freeserve email account you are using - some ISP block the use of other ISP's smtp/pop3/imap mail...?

It is a freeserve account, yes. This is the message it comes up with after checking my other freeserve account (which is working)


"There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.freeserve.com', Server: 'pop.freeserve.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR authorization failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92"

Passwords are case sensitive. Make sure you have typed it exactly right.

Are you sure the account hasn't been suspended or something? Have you phoned Freeserve to get them to check?

Likely that the account has been scrapped. They do this if it does not get used for a while.
