Question

Another "Can you..." thread, but I don't know of a better IT resource

We have a PC that occacianlly needs a re-boot when it gets stuck. I need this to be unattended as it can happen out of hours. It's Win NT. Is there any way I can get it to logon to a perticular account on start up??

tweakui from MS will allow you to do this.

Again beware he security implications the password to be used is held unencrypted in the registry so is easy to discover if you have access to the registry..

Could you not just set whatever program needs running to run as a service? Wouldn't need to log on then...

Just a thought

Deano,

Works great. Thanks.

Trotty,

Unfortunatly not. There's some stuff it does that runs other programs so needs to be properly logged on.

Cheers

Yep it is in the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\NT\C urrentVersion\Winlogon\

AutoAdminLogon = 1
DefaultDomainName = [Domain name]
DefaultUserName = [User name]
DefaultPassword = [Password]

but just read the previous post and looks like youv'e found an easier way

All tweakUI does is give a GUI to those registry settings (+many others) to make it easier to set.
