Question

Having consulted you guys about upping my RAM I had a shufty around inside my PC to try to find out what the motherboard is. This was the first time I removed the case and found about an inch of dust covering everything inside!! After a quick vacuum I'm none the wiser as to what the motherboard is.

Is there anything else I can look for to find out what sort of RAM I need??

Cheers in advance,

Karl

(edited because the diagram I took half an hour over looked like a bag of $hite)

Cool

Try SiSoft Sandra

It correctly identifies my motherboard.

Its a 2.3Mb download.

Who made your PC? If its a branded PC try Crucial They have a memory selector to ensure you get the right type.

Alternatively, write down the BIOS id string displayed at start up and check on www.wimsbios.com

OK, so I've finally tracked down the motherboard which is an ASUS A7V-VM 1.02 and something else which means nothing to me is BIOS: Phoenix Technologies LTD 2.00 09/19/00.

Who can now tell me what sort of memory I need and where to get it. Ideally, I want as much for as little outlay as possible.

A7V-M uses SDRAM, PC133 • CL=3 • Unbuffered • Non-parity • 7.5ns • 3.3V •

Not sure if this is the same as your mobo tho.
