Answer to first question, yes I do use Toad, occasionally at least for interrogating tables etc. during system testing, so that makes 2 of us !! Makes life so much easier.
Answer to second question, don't know, sorry. Sounds like dba stuff so is beyond my knowledge.

Can you give us some more detail of what you're trying to do, if it's simple SQL then maybe I can help although no promises. Is the problem with the data or the tables ?
Cheers

Thanks guys
Some of our tables have long text fields in them which are causing hard-returns to be entered into the data. For example there is a field called Contents which has data in it with carriage returns in the middle of the data where the user has pressed new line. I need to remove the carriage returns and replace them with spaces instead, because when I export the data and load it into Excel, Excel interprets the returns and puts everything after it on a new line
Unfortunately you cannot search & replace the hard-returns. Tried loads of software which claimed to be able to do it, to no avail.
Once the data is cleaned up I can change them to varchar fields to stop it happening again.
Any help would be appreciated
