Is it an advance scart lead and a optical lead?
I'm guessing the optical lead plugs into the advanced scart as the box don't have optical output on the back
Also, does anyone know if this is RGB or SVHS output on the scart?
Cheers!
John

You need the Advanced SCART lead for the XBOX, a Dolby Digital Decoder with optical input, and an optical lead connecting the box halfway down the Advanced SCART lead to the Decoder, then set up the XBOX to be Dolby Digital sound in the menu.
The advanced SCART produces an RGB signal (which looks VERY sweet!)

Dont mean to be a total gumby, but is the above all you need to connect the Xbox to a Dolby Amp ?
I have a Denon AVR-1802 and wanted to put the Xbox thru it. It has spare s-video and composite inputs on it as i only have the dvd and sky going thru it at the moment.

dont know about you chaps but my box is so quit it is un-believable!!...have to put the sound on the tv upto almost 16 to get the sound out!!...(Just when in normal mode and not plugged into a decoder)...YET THE PS2 is fine and loud on 8!!
but also everytime the box is turned on I get teh clock settings screen!!...so it may be that the XBOX is faulty!!

If ya turn off the power the clock loses its settings and you have to reset.
Need to leave it plugged in and power switched on (xbox can be off) and the clock will be fine!

AFAIK Only the Advance Scart port has the built in wiring to handle a 5.1 signal output, and can only be connected via an optical lead.
Microsoft might release an S-Video or a compostie version with separate output to a decoder, but they all seem to be an optical connection.
The composite lead supplied with the xbox does not carry a digital signal (That I know of, plus I an never get my decoder that close to the composite input on the TV to try)

OK, so i am trying to get this as I dont have an Xbox yet and havent seen the back of one....(can anyone point me at a pic of the back of one ?)
I connect an Advanced SCART cable to an optical cable and plug the Advanced SCART into the Xbox and the optical (Coax ???) into the AV amp. Thats the only way i can get 5.1 sound.
Another question...
What is an AV-S Video cable for Xbox ?
Arrgghhh i will get it in a minute.

It's simple. The lead plugs into the Xbox at one end and into the scart socket of the tv at the other. Attached to the lead is a box with an optical socket (coax is not supported). Simply connect your optical lead bewteen this socket and the amplifier and away you go.
