Default Mini mac

Thinking of getting a used one but obviously want to get the best one I can get. What model should I be looking for? Only after it as a media player or maybe a little browse on the web.

Or should I be looking at some other device?

Under or next to it, where ever it sits best as the tv unit is very crowded.

I have that on an android box but I don't like the idea that it doesn't have a dolby digital cable out.

Ant I have tried that thru my amp and it just hi jacks all the sound from the tv, the amp just takes control so I prefer using digital connects as my tv has enough hdmi leads.

I have that as well but I'm not happy with the sound from it. It never seems to sound like DTS?

I take no notice which connect are in which optical outputs so usually have to keep scrolling thru the amp till I see DTS When I output thru the tv optical it seems to be more err yes its dolby but?

The subs hardly even make a sound and I rarely hear the rear speakers kicking in.

The amp is the way forward but due to it taking control of the whole sound system if I were to watch normal tv thru the tv ariel I get no sound at all as the amp just controls everything so I then have to disconnect the amp and switch everything off to get control of the tv sound.

That's a terrible option as all it does is give apps to a current tv. I have no intention on swapping my 52" Samsung plasma till the 4k version proves worth buying, also the media players on the TV's aren't very good and most of the time the audio isn't supported.

No worries, just got one myself and as I don't have any pirate movies I can't see any good reason to connect a PC any more. I have an Apple TV which isn't quite as useful as it used to be now my TV handles so much itself.

Very few TV's will output anything more than stereo (Dolby Pro Logic) through the optical when passing through sound from HDMI inputs.
