Default Keeping arches rust free?

As a new owner of a 2003 WRX that is rust free, what is the best way to keep them that way? Please, no silly responses like 4 layers of Hammerite.

Interested in this as well, mines an 02

I have the slightest surface rust on the lip of the wheel arch where stones must have chipped the paint. Just bought the Bilt Hamber Electroc zinc primer and paint/lacquer ready to "do some damage" before it spreads, all still solid metal thankfully.

Use everything Bilt Hamber sell to clean, de-rust (Deox-C gel) and protect the metal and you won't go far wrong:

If anyone mentions Waxoyl, just remember the car shown on the tin (a 1960s generic 'sports car') is representative of the technology offered by the product within.

Has anyone tried putting some clear tape protection over this area for stone chipping?

Saying that I've seen a few cars where it very much looks like it tends to come from 'inside out'.
I guess many cars suffer here as you get trapped muck between the arch liner & the inner arch...

I always remove the rubber trim and get an old sponge right in behind the lip to get all the mud etc... out every couple of washes.

Their underseal is pretty good. I'm talking about the cavity wax that's actually sold as 'Waxoyl'.

Sorry for the confusion.

i hope/think they sorted it out on the newages but on classics they rust from the inside out. its the cavity inbetween where the 2 panels join, must be internal condensation which puddles on the seam sealant and slowly rots the metal away

a reasonable trick (especially on classics) is to pull back the boot lining and popping a of silica filled bags. cost practically nothing, but if ya have a damp boot issue would definitely help
