Cleaning/drying cloths.
Hi all,
Want to give my cloths and drying towels a bit of a lift as they're starting to be less effective these days.
I've heard people on here saying to add 'white vinegar' to the wash occasionally.I can't seem to find any at the local supermarkets, would 'white wine vinegar' be ok??!!
Cheers

Sorry for bringing this back to life........
Finally found some of this stuff in Morrisons last night.
Is it definately 'distilled malt vinegar' that i need which is colourless?
Also, would it be ok to put it in with my lambswool / microfibre wash mitts as i normally wash all my cleaning / drying cloths together.
How often is it best to be used and do you just put a capful in the drum / washing liquid container / washing machine drawer ?
Thanks again............

The vinegar I usually buy from Tesco's is white condiment vinegar, which I believe is the same as distilled malt vinegar. When I use it, I pour around 100ml into the soap dispenser drawer, then whack the wash on using the usual temperature and spin settings (30-40oC, spin speed 1200 max). You can put your mitts into the same wash if you want too no problem at all. Once the wash is done, I rewash using liquid detergent to ensure no residual smell is left in the towels/mitts and that's it, job done.

Cheers Rich.
So the 1st wash is just the vinegar then then wash again with normal non bio liquid?
How often do you tend to use the vinegar then or is it just a case of judging the state of the cloths etc?
Thanks yet again.........

Yes, exactly - vinegar wash first then a liquid non-bio wash to remove any vinegar scent. We do a vinegar wash at least once a month, but in fairness our towels are in constant use. I'd suggest once every 3-4 months at home, unless your towels are obviously clogged and not coming clean in normal washes.

Cloths do seem to be cleaning properly it's just that the drying cloths just don't seem to absorbe as well as they did and look a little 'flat' and the microfibre's just don't seem to be lifting the Jeff's off as well either.
The last couple of times i've used the Jeff's sealant it's been a bitch to get off, just keeps smearing eveywhere, even when using the Glos to help.
Thought it may be due to the cold weather but not had this problem with it before - been using it for the best part of 2 years now.Thought giving the cloths a 'spruce' may help.If this doesn't work will invest in some more cloths i think.
