Are you serious phillip

grab some gunk from halfords, also purchase a nice radiator brush from B&Q

warm the engine for a few minutes, soak the engine in said gunk, and work it with the radiator brush, concentrate on 1 area at a time

when all nice and de-greased,unleash a pressure wash on the engine"BUT" do not blast your alternator with said pressure hose

when all the soapy gunk has run away, start your engine and let it dry a while, grab an old cloth and mop up the excess water

when dry, wipe over the rubber hoses/plastic covers with some autoglym plastic/vinyl dress

hey presto! one spanking engine

LOL i'm half way through cleaning mine and have just stopped for a cup of tea.

I'm using a spray can of Granville Engine Degreasant (cheap), using a toothbrush to work it in and then just washing it off carfully with water.

Working a charm

Gunk works fine. The after smell lasts a while. I used Daisy multi purpose cleaner (From Tesco) last time. No after smell and great results.

My choice? P21S Total Auto Wash, as it is pleasant to work with, cleans really well, and is biodegradable. Example of it being used here...
