Default scratch removal

Morning all. Well, its morning here anyway!

I had a large dog (newfoundland) jump up at the car yasterday leaving 3 parallel scratch marks down the paint for about 6 inches . Not through to the paint to metal or undercoat, but looks to jave just marked the top coat.

Is there a halfords type solution to this? Mild T-cut or something or am I looking at a pro repair job.

I have similar marks on the old polo so can test any products there before having a go orn the forester.

cheers,
Paul

if its just a clearcoat scratch then it should come out - (any pics?)

scratch x would work or try some intensive polish using the white side of a german aplicator pad - but you will have to buy these from polished bliss

Hmm, chances are paw scratches will be too deep for IP or any of the usual Halfords fair (which is best avoided) - where are you based, as I might be able to point you to a pro detailer who will be ablew to machine them out for you? Can you catch the scratches with your fingernail?

Hi All.

I tried the meguires scratch x on the polo first and it did a really good job. The swirl marks on the bonnet and scratches from brambles etc all gone.

next it was onto the forester and the dog paw scratch - again you theres no trace of it now. I also used it on some scratches on the rear bumper and the ones round the drivers door handle and again it removed them all.

really pleased with it. I used a meguires foam pad to apply it and a micro fibre cloth to polish it off.

At only £8 a tube its definatley worth a go before you call in the pros. Note all my scratches were not feelable by a finger nail.

cheers,
Paul

Good stuff, thought initially they may be deep, hence the advice, but great that you got them out easily.
