Thumbs down Go to first unread post...

...STILL does not work properly!

What did I pay my money for? Certainly wasn't a year of stuff being removed and things being broken.

Stu, whoever, kindly grow some ***** and tell the Yanks to sort stuff out.

This and other unresolved issues have went on FAR too long now. Action is needed, not this "I'll report it lark"!

Either IB know what they are doing or.... well.... they don't. Which is it? Stop fobbing people off with it's being looked into, heavily modified SN, and all the other crap!

It's about time someone took responsibility for this. I'm responsible for my actions at work - what about IB? Who's responsible for the IT side? Someone needs to be accountable for the ongoing ***** up of stuff not working.

Would you like to elaborate as to what your complaint actually is?

With regard's me keep telling you things have been reported, sadly that is all I can ever report to you initially as that is exactly what has been done, I report it to the tech team and then they put it in a list of jobs to do. Admittedly there have been other more pressing issues from time to time and jobs have dragged on and for that I appologise but my role as Administrator is not to fix things directly, so my hands are tied to a large extent and I can get just as frustrated as you.

For the record, there is a topic explaining what has been done since i became administrator and what still remains to be done here. Click me if you want to read it.

It's pretty self explanatory from the thread title.

Go to first unread post does not work!

Well it does for me and nobody else has complained so unless you want to lose the attitude and elaborate somewhat as to what does happen when the feature doesnt work at your end and also tell me what browser and OS this is happening on then I shant be losing any sleep over your complaint due to the poor attitude you always appear to have when addressing me.

It doesn't work exactly for me either. What it seems to do is go to the last post that was posted when I next logged on. Not go to the last post I actually read.

i.e. If I don't look at a thread for a couple of days, but have been on the site briefly for one reason or another, then click a 'Go to last post' button a few days later, it'll take me to a post maybe one or two from the most recent. Not one that should have been days ago. It works for me on other sites so sure it's not the browser/OS, but either way I'm on Mac OS 10.4.11 and Safari 3.2.1.

Cheers Stu.

Everything works for you, you're Admin, IB have to keep you happy.

PC XP Pro SP2 or 3 can't remember, browsers.. well take your pick, IE7/8, Firefox 3(latest update and previous), AOhelL.

It doesn't work, just takes me to the last post of the thread, instead of the first post that I haven't read.

This is, IMO, directly related to the unread threads not remaining in bold after a visit to SN; fix that and it'll fix the go to first unread. I think.

It could indeed well be related to that, but thats not broken, its intentionally the way it is.

Sorry, i thought i had answered it although maybe not as clearly as you would like.

The personally post visit history feature is intentionally set the way it is now and will be staying that way.

Things will stay broken then?

Things work before IB's "upgrades" etc, now things don't work.

It's hard for me to explain, not being a techie, but I'll try anyway.

Example, I click a link to SN on TTS for a For Sale thread, everything that's been posted is classed as having been viewed. It very obviously hasn't.

Then, should I click the arrowed link in the pic below, which I've posted on the thread in the past..

then it will just take me to the last post made.

The two things are linked, but either yourself or some techie are seemingly reluctant to do anything about it, which is a bit crap customer service to be honest.

It worked when I regisetered in 2005, it doesn't work now. Therefore it's been broken.

A wise old sage once said; "If it aint broke, don't fix it."

Also, it isn't helpful to your moderators, they can't remember everything the have read - if the first unread post doesn't work they can miss things "kicking off" in a contentious thread.

Bit long winded, but, as a paying user I expect a better service than that which is currently available.

It isnt broken, it has been intentionally changed to work the way it does now to save on server overheads.

Well, change it back then.

Simple solution to an annoying problem.
