For the past 3-4 days I've been experiencing s very slow server reponse. Typically 15-30 seconds, with posting and just viewing threads.
It's same at home as is at work, (one Telewest Cable - other is BT Broadband).
It's intermittant, one minutes it fine, the next it takes ages All other servies / websites on my end seem fine....just seems to be SN that is slow
Is SN aware of any problems, or are the servers reaching their peak capacities?

Ali,
We have had imense loading over the weekend because of the fact we host the Wales Rally GB website, and that increased over the weekend for obvious reasons.
We will be continually monitoring it, to try and find the route cause.
Regards,
Shaun.

I think the problem is getting worse
And for some reason, I've just had a 3 minute "glitch" where SN just seemed to die (no response - nothing...apart from a 500 error). Not sure if this is related.

As a test for 1 day.. stop access to the muppet forum... and we can see how much bandwidth is saved, how fast the other forums become, and watch as the server(s) take a rest.
However the mods will start groaning under the number of thread moves / locks
Just a thought.

LOL Richie.. don't diss the muppets or they will come round to Steanstead Abbotts and steal the contents of your garden..
seriously, I think everybody contributes to the community to an equal degree, don't forget some of the muppets have serious imprezas

You can take whatever you want from Stanstead Abbots as I have never or doubt I will ever live there.
Actually I hadnt thought of muppets _owning_ or _not owning_ imprezas.... actually there are far more serious cars owned that are not imprezas and are owned by muppets and non muppets alike. But anyway.
It would be nice if SDB or Shaun could give us some feed back on what is slowing things up... if there is any thing we can do to help (other than going away
).
I for one know that itterating through a 4000 odd entry ado recordset is not the fastest thing in the world.... and one of the threads in muppets is now at something like 4k posts - and more to the point, its at 4k posts for no reason whatsoever.

ya, maybe they need to make a change from mySQL to something a little more robust.. but the performance issues seem to occur at rather strange times i.e. not UK 9am to 5pm.. but I've not been gathering evidence to that extent so it's just guesswork..
hah, just a thought from previous experience... Some of the servers we had once had PCanywhere or similar installed... connecting remotely into one with it completely kills the performance... or perhaps its the thread issues above

Someone decide to overclock the server?
